It looks like its going to be a warm weekend in the Capital. Below is a brief overview of what’s happening this weekend.
Saturday – Our weekly farmers market runs as usual from 9AM-2PM. This week in celebration of Canada Day we will be having a strawberry social. We will be giving out free strawberry shortcake starting at 10AM (while quantities last). One of our vendors, Another Chapter Publishing, will be handing out “I Am Canadian” bookmarks. On top of this, for the Canada Day theme Sheppard’s Spring Farm will have strawberry tarts and Nat’s bread will be doing a maple bacon sourdough bread.
At the Farm site: Free Face Painting from 10AM-12PM
Long Weekend Scavenger Hunt – fill out the sheet that goes with the scavenger hunt to receive one free admission for your next visit.
Our usual demonstrations will be happening:
Goat milking – 10am
Pig feeding – 11am
Lamb bottle feeding – 12pm
Egg collection- 1pm
Don’t forget in between demonstrations is all the other fun the farm has to offer like, visiting with all the farm animals (horses, cows, donkey, pigs, sheep, goats ….). Tour the historic house and farm buildings from before Canada was even a country. Bring a picnic or pick up some snacks from the market and enjoy a peaceful lunch in the surroundings of nature. There is also a beautiful nature trail that leads to the 4 acre natural pond with blue herons, white egrets, Canada geese and mallard ducks. Bring your camera for some great shots.
Sunday – We will be closed for the day. With the extreme heat coming in for the weekend and all the other great celebrations for Canada Day we have decided to stay closed and celebrate with our family.
Monday – Weather permitting (we will have updates on this webpage, Facebook and twitter) we will be open from 9am-4pm again with our regular demonstrations happening (as posted above). Its a holiday Monday so why not spend some time at the farm, bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of nature.
